Mustang football fans will have an opportunity to secure box seats for the four varsity home games scheduled for the 2010 season while also supporting Mustang athletics. The center section of the home side now under construction will include 598 chair-back seats. Fans will be able to purchase season tickets for the reserved seats on Thursday, April 1, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Mustang Health and Wellness Center on the south side of the Mustang High School campus.

Chuck Bailey, athletic director, said the season tickets will be sold in pairs for $120 for the 2010 season. Individual buyers can purchase as many as six pairs of tickets. Patrons can also purchase a pair of “donor” seats for $500, a portion of which is a tax-deductible donation to Mustang’s athletic program. Every pair of seats sold will come with a pass for preferred parking near the entrance of the stadium. Patrons will receive their tickets in the mail in August. Seating for the first year will be assigned. Donor seats will be along the 50-yard line.

“For just $9 over the cost of a general admission adult ticket, season ticket holders will have guaranteed preferred parking and the best seats in the stadium,” Bailey said. “I expect we will sell all 598 box seats the first night.”

If more than 598 seats are sold on April 1, the box seats will be awarded by a lottery to ensure each patron has an equal chance to purchase tickets. Donor seat purchases are guaranteed and will not be part of the lottery. Should a lottery be necessary, individuals who purchased box seats but who were not selected in the lottery will receive a refund. If only a portion of the 598 tickets available sell the evening of April 1, patrons can purchase tickets at the Mustang Athletic Office during normal business hours beginning April 2.

With the introduction of the reserved box seats, fans will no longer be able to tape blankets to the bleachers to save seats before the game.

“The season tickets will give those die-hard Mustang fans the ability to have fantastic seats guaranteed, without having to arrive at the stadium three hours early.” Bailey said.

All 2010 season ticket holders will be given an opportunity to renew their tickets and choose their seats for the 2011 season. The price of the tickets will vary depending on the number of home games scheduled for the season.

The improved seating is being made possible by the 2009 bond issue. The west side will become the home side, and Mustang patrons will no longer be looking into the sun. Seating capacity will be increased to 4,600 on the new home side and will include 23 rows of chair-back seating in the center of the stadium.

“When we compare ourselves to other 6A, top-notch programs, these will help turn the corner,” Bailey said. “The improvements are much needed and very appreciated. Thanks to the support of the community, we will be able to offer Mustang’s student athletes and their fans a fantastic facility next fall.”
